It seemed like a great evening for a jaunt up the Ben Sheann, and a good turnout backed that up.

The front 3 were the same as last year but in a slightly different order, with Alistair Thornton (1st) (Ochil) reversing last year's top 2 result with a time of 27:10 ahead of 6 times winner, James Espie (Deeside) in 27:45. Jack Taylor (Ochil) repeated his last years 3rd place with a time of 27:59 but all 3 finishing within a minute of each other.

For the women, Angela Mudge (1st) (Ochil) won once more with a time of 33:21, and Rosalind Heron (Carnethy) ran out 2nd in 36:52. Hazel Dean (3rd) Ochil in 42:09

Congratulations to Joel Gillan, (Central) completed a very good time in 31:24 in the U18 category.

Thank you for your support for this race, not only Ochil, who brought 20 runners to the start line, but also to all other clubs and individuals who are keeping the numbers up and continuing to recover after Covid.

A slightly revised and lengthened route seemed popular with many, despite the removal of a section which many of the runners missed.

Ben Sheann

15th May, 2024

Part of the Bog'n'Burn Series, this Category AS race is 3.4k long with a 400m ascent.

Gaelic for 'Mountain of the Fairies', you still have to be tough to run it - this is the stocky little brother of the Stuc a' Chroin 5000.

What better way to spend an hour than a trip up Ben Sheann on a beautiful summer's evening in May. You can do a full days work, drive to Strathyre, see some mates, run up Ben Sheann and down again, pick up your prize, sup a well deserved ale or vino, and head home. And ... it's still light, so if these light summers evenings are keeping you awake, this is the perfect antidote.

A hill race run annually, the race covers Ben Sheann amidst the stunning Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park
