Next Race 2nd May 2015. Registration takes place at the Inn at Strathyre at the south end of the village from 10:30am until 12:30pm. Traffic is very heavy coming through Callander, particularly if the weather is good, so please allow an extra 30-60 mins for traffic from Stirling to Strathyre.
The race is classified as an AL race. Under British Athletics Rules, runners entering this race are required to carry all items of a mandatory list, and no exceptions are allowed. Three years ago saw some atrocious conditions and the safety of competitors and marshals was compromised. Runners are required to show mandatory equipment at registration and checks will be made before the start.
For a comprehensive list of FRA rules and recommendations, runners should acquaint themselves with the FRA web site. As of 30th April 2014, the mandatory list comprises the following
• WATERPROOF whole body cover (i.e. covering the torso from head to ankles)
• Other body cover appropriate for the weather conditions including, as a minimum, hat and gloves but also e.g. a fleece
• Map, preferably waterproof, of the race route and surrounding area
• Compass suitable for navigating the course (GPS type equipment is not acceptable)
• Emergency food.
Regrettably, due to more stringent checks being required on the organisers, we cannot allow any early starts this year. This may change in subsequent years.
The race route is well flagged and must be followed. There are marshals positioned at all changes of direction. The only cut-off point is at the 'Cross-over'. Those not making it to the Cross-over point by 15:00 or 2 hours after race start unfortunately will not be allowed to continue.
The race costs £8 to enter. Exact money is preferable where possible. Unfortunately pre-registration is not possible.
This year's (2015) permit (no ) from Scottish Athletics to run the race can be viewed here.
After the race, the prize-giving will be held on the field - time to be confirmed. Our hotels take turns to supply the bar here, and this year, it's supplied by the Inn at Strathyre.
